Little Kitschy Hula Doll

It certainly been a long time since Agent 137 brought any new miss fit toys to the shop. There will be plenty of new listings heading to the shop this week and this adorable Hula dolly is a preview of what will be available for adoption :)

This year has been a rough time for the Agent family, but as 2013 comes to a close I look forward to being much more involved with the shop and finding and rehoming many more toys and dolls in the future.

A Kitschy Animal Zoo

I love kitschy animals, and although my affections for one kitschy animal in particular may have gotten out of hand (think deer) I always seem to make room for more. I cannot stop searching the web for more cuteness to add to my collection. I an effort to stop myself I have created a little collection of some adorable finds available on Etsy right now for very reasonable prices :) If they can't find a home with me maybe someone out there can adopt them!

An Apology

I realize that my postings in the past have been intermittent at best and that lately they have been non existent. I am not sure if anyone even reads this blog anymore.

This year, err, last year, was full of change for me personally- I was married and survived many family tragedies, as well as a few other things... and my Agent 137 shop and this blog took a back seat.

I recently found my childhood journal. A diary that recorded my activities, thoughts, and emotions from 4th grade until my senior year of high school. Exploring my thoughts and documenting my adventures was exciting and rewarding and I think that this blog could serve that function too.

I the coming weeks, months, and hopefully years, I plan to fill this blog with what are hopefully well constructed and engrossing posts. I do apologize for the absence.

Agent 137 is back!

After a long hiatus Agent 137 is back! After a year of planning for my wedding and celebrating and returning from my honeymoon I am so excited to spend more time hanging out online and sharing cuteness from my personal collection of kitschy goodies.

I have some exciting news coming soon and a chance to win a special prize! In the mean time I took some pictures today of this lovely chap, one of my favorites- a vintage doll house doll. He looks so jaunty in his knitted wool sweater and trousers, don't you think?

Flea Market Finds

This weekend I visited our local flea market looking for kitschy toys, and other vintage goodness. I have really been searching for a vintage desk to complete my office/toy room. Packing toys on the dining room table just isn't going to work anymore! I have boxes, tags, and tissue paper everywhere.

So after searching high and low for the perfect mid century desk with no success I ran into one of the strangest toys I have ever seen. I know that this guy was created in 1988 by Mattel, but that is all the info I have. Does anyone know his name? I can imagine that an anthropomorphic chicken leg must have an interesting history.

I have no idea why this picture is horizontal. I have tried to rotate it several times with no luck. My usual camera is being repaired. Apologies....

I also have a little preview for this week. This sweet pose doll will be listed this week along with other goodies including a trio of kitschy mod mid century cats.

Hello Out There!

Hello! I am still here!

My grandmother, who I am very close to, had a stroke at the beginning of January and I have been taking care of her so I have been pretty absent from blogging and the shop, but things are getting better with time and I am now back :) I have been so excited to get back to posting and sharing my vintage finds!

So I have a little preview for next week:

Better Late than ?

So I know that its a little late...Precipitated on an early morning run for an incredibly low priced Kindle Fire... But I thought that it might be nice to post a little sneak peak at the items I will be listing today at 11:30. I think these guys are seriously cute, if I do say so myself...

Also, I launched an Etsy store for my awesome 83 year old grandmother today called Chickens In The Kitchen featuring her handmade vintage reproduction aprons and vintage kitchen wares. Please check it out and give her some love!

Thankful

Sorry for the long delay here in blog land. Things have been so busy here that I forgot about my poor little blog. I  promise to be better about this in the future. Blogging is so freeing for me, like writing in a journal, that I really should be more diligent about posting.

In any event, my Thanksgiving holiday was if anything very interesting. Agent 137 is now engaged and I spent the holiday with my future in-laws who are Chinese American, eating different festive Chinese dishes. As a vegetarian I definitely appreciated the alternatives to the more traditional turkey. I laughed this year, remembering how my veg brother and I retreated during previous Thanksgivings to Chinese restaurants seeking refuge from our family's meat laden table.

This has been one of the best years of my life and I am so thankful for my amazing fiance and all of my friends who I have met through the wonderful Etsy community. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone and I hope that you have all had a great holiday as well!

In celebration of my favorite holiday my friends and I carved jack-O'-laterns tonight with many different designs and themes to decorate for my annual Halloween party being held tomorrow.

This cute guy, carved by the most awesome boyfriend turned fiance, was my favorite:

Just wanted to share :)

Holidays are Here!

As a lover of all things vintage I have a hard time letting anything go. I have been hoarding holiday decorations, cute winter themed pose dolls and mountains of deer for years....Today I have listed the first of what will be many kitschy holiday items.

If you are searching for anything in particular please let me know. I just might have it!

Oh Deer

I had the amazingly good luck to happen upon a large collection of sweet deer recently! After harvesting the cuties that I needed for my own collection I decided to share them with the Agent 137 shop :)

Here is a preview of the cuties that I will begin to list starting tomorrow:

Shelf Elf

When is it too early to break out the holiday decorations? This has been my debate... It always disturbs me when I am shopping for Halloween decorations and then, low and behold, I find Christmas decorations strategically placed throughout the displays. It isn't that I am not looking forward to the kitschy holiday deer and Santas that will become the centerpiece of my home, but that I am such a fan of Halloween that I would like to appreciate the fall season completely before moving on.

That said, I am now forced to decide when Agent137 should release the many many kitschy holiday items that have been kept top secret for months and I wonder when is exactly the right time?
